Drumlane Abbey
The distance between Ballyconnell and Milltown, a tiny community, is around 8 kilometres. The monastery is situated in a very scenic area near Lake Derrybrick. According to legend, St. Mogue, Bishop of Ferns, founded it in the sixth century. A circular tower, a church, a cemetery, stone pieces with a cross, and a monastery site are among the ruins. One of the most noticeable characteristics is the spherical tower, which is almost 11 meters high. A group of earthworks located about 150 meters from the church are likely the ruins of an Augustinian convent from the 12th century..Under the leadership of Augustinian monks, Drumlane’s original circular tower was converted from wood to stone in the 12th century.
