Best of luck Leona in the Paris Olympics

The Ballyconnell community is brimming with pride and excitement as our very own Leona Maguire heads to the Paris 2024 Olympics to represent Ireland in golf. This will be Leona’s third appearance at the Olympics, having previously competed in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Leona, who has put our town on the global map with her outstanding achievements, will join an elite team of Irish golfers including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, and Stephanie Meadow. The competition will take place at the prestigious Le Golf National, a course renowned for hosting major events like the Ryder Cup.

The Ballyconnell community has always rallied behind Leona, and this time is no different. We are all incredibly proud of her achievements and will be cheering her on every step of the way. Leona’s journey from the local golf courses of Ballyconnell to the grand stage of the Olympics is nothing short of inspiring.
