Local food, live drama and traditional music will come together at Lizzie Buggies in Ballyconnell on Wednesday 28 October, when The Cottage Market Cavan stages its Feast of Cavan Folk Festival. Running from 6pm to 10pm, the Halloween-themed evening brings eight experiences into one venue on Church Street. The programme connects local producers, performers and craftspeople, with visitors able to explore food, entertainment and demonstrations throughout the evening rather than attend a single stage performance.
Forest Hill Farm from Bailieborough will provide food in the DineYard, while Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick and Charles McGuinness bring live theatrical entertainment to the programme. A Céilí Room will feature traditional musicians alongside a new trad group associated with Lizzie Buggies. Elsewhere, two Cavan-based artists will demonstrate prosthetics and special-effects make-up, with candle-making, wood-carving and pumpkin-carving demonstrations adding to the mix. The Halloween Kitchen will focus on seasonal food traditions through barmbrack-making and fresh apple-juice pressing, while the bar provides another space within the event.
Online admission is listed at €11 per person, comprising a €10 ticket and a €1 booking fee, with access to all eight experiences. Food and drinks are sold separately. Children are admitted free but must remain accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the event. The organiser describes the venue as wheelchair accessible and notes that taxi services are available locally. Tickets and current event information are available through The Cottage Market Cavan’s website; the venue address is Lizzie Buggies, Church Street, Ballyconnell, H14 FV50.
